Family Night Friday

OK-I know I am a day late in posting a Family Night Fridays' post...so here it is.
I am not sure if I had mentioned this in my other post about family nights, but we have the kids pick out an activity, for family nights, out of a jar.

This family night what was picked?CRAFT NIGHT!! The kids knew some of the other activities that were in the jar and were kind of disappointed at first about craft night. They quickly learned that family night does not always have to be the most "exciting" event but more importantly that we are all together as a family and we can make it exciting with our cheerful attitudes! This was not difficult for them to do when family night came around, thankfully.

First we ended up going to Dairy Queen for dinner because of my lack of planning for a meal at home that night.
It was still fun though...I try put aside some cash, if I can, for family nights, just in case, or I plan to do a quick easy meal at home that night. We ate, then went on home to begin craft night. The idea was to use any materials we had at home to make a special craft. So we ended up making creative paper turkeys from the drawings of our hands. Here is what everyone came with:

Carson's Turkey (in middle of course)
Ava's Turkey (on top left)
Gavin's Turkey , "Big Steve" (on top right) Here is Stefan's Turkey "Big Jake"
(the red square)
Kayla's in the very middle

Then everyone began to get really creative! They all began to build log houses out of Popsicle sticks. It was so neat to watch everyone together having a great time being creative!! This lasted for a couple of hours. When everyone was through we went outside to play a quick game of flashlight tag in the dark! It was such fun!!! Then finally at 9:30, or maybe it was 10pm., it was definitely time to go in to bed!! BUT...before the kids went to bed it was Kayla's turn to choose from the jar, and what did she pick? Well.....stay tuned for our next family night Friday adventure! This one will be a little more exciting or maybe, just more interesting!!!!!
