My little teacher/great helper girl...
"OK, first we are going to do a craft, then we will have snack time, then we will play games and have story time." "If we have enough time at the end then we can read another story"
"Say F...A...N..."
"Repeat...F....A...N...
that spells FAN."

Yes, this is what I am hearing at this very moment. My wonderful oldest daughter (Kayla) is enjoying teaching my younger ones today in school.
At times I am tempted to believe that I need to have all my "ducks in a row" before I can really teach things to my kids-I need to be perfect. NOPE-not true!! Although God is helping me to grow tremendously I must say-praise God! Growth is a process...it doesn't come all at once...although sometimes I wish it did.
Yet, if there was perfection then we wouldn't need a Savior. Thankfully we do have a Savior who is kind to give us others in our lives to help us to grow.
You see Kayla is soo much more gifted at planning, managing, and carrying out the plan than I ever was. What a great gift God has given to her. We are so different as mother and daughter. Relationships come more easily to her than for me-whereas I am very content being at home. She is great at managing and planning where I would love to just be with my kids without having to do so.
See, these differences in the both of us, truly help us to become more like Christ. I love how the Lord uses both our gifts and weaknesses to draw us closer together as Mother and Daughter and to help us change in the areas we need to change in. I am trying to really pay attention to her strengths and gifts, listen to how she would think of doing things differently than I. I have used her suggestions before too!!
God also is bringing to my attention to really cultivate in her a love for teaching about Him, teaching home schooling to the younger ones, caring for her family by helping to care for the home, and more!! Not only is she learning these things, she is enjoying it as well!! I am so grateful the Lord DOES work all things for our good.
If it were me? I would have given these kids another Mom. Yet, God knew before the beginning of time the exact kids I was to have, and what mother they were going to have. He ordered it this way and planned it this way! To help us to grow in the likeness of Him.
I believe that the Lord has given me a word to really press in and help to cultivate these gifts in Kayla by letting her plan out and set up a schedule for the little ones on Thursday mornings. So this is her new task. Now I can use Thursday mornings to plan or do house work while she does that.
She would love to do this everyday, so she says! Maybe I can have her set up my schedule too! Or better yet I'll just pass everything onto her!!
Nooo...the kids still need me as Mom and there is more teaching to be done, but at least I know I have a great helper!! Oh, how I encouraged Kayla that this joyful/Godly perspective she is having in serving her family is what the Lord desires for her and one day for her own family.
I am excited to watch and see how the Lord uses her gifts joyfully for His glory!
So neat!!!

What a great post Erika! So encouraging! Wow how kind of God to give you each other to compliment the others strengths and weaknesses.
God's way of gifting our children is a blessing to watch/see, along with the way He is using each of them..
I am amazed at the working of the Holy Spirit in each life; whether that person is a grown-up children or grand children.. God is so good...
Hugs to all of you..
