It is on the far right side on this picture, near the big toe.)
A couple months back she had been sewing a dress for her doll at my Mom's house. When she arose from the table a pin dropped to the floor by accident-She did not realize she had dropped it. When she returned to the table she stepped on the pin and a piece of the pin got stuck in her foot! At the time it hurt her but not to the point of tears-she was a trooper.
We did find the pin, but not the tip. We were not sure if part of the pin was still in her foot, so we thought we would watch it and see if any infection would develop. No infection has developed, thankfully, but there has been pain.
So today the doctor ordered x-rays and sure enough the tip of the pin is embedded in the fleshy part of her foot, right underneath her big toe.
They sent us over to a pediatric surgeon. He says she will need surgery this coming Monday at 6am. It is out-patient surgery and should only take 30-45min. The surgeon will make a little incision and get it out by using a fluoroscopic x-ray to help him. They will also be putting her to sleep for this.
If you could be praying for Kayla she would be greatly blessed by that. Please pray for the Surgeon to get it out safely, peace for Kayla, and for her to learn how to trust God through this. This will be her first experience having surgery and she is nervous.
As an adult I have had so many opportunities to learn how to trust in the Lord, as well as many times where I have sadly failed. This is truly a neat opportunity for me as her mother to guide her in teaching her how to submit her fears to the Lord, and that Lord cares for us as His children. For I too have been struggling with fear lately, and I need to revisit this truth as well! To trust that He is Sovereign and good no matter what happens or what the outcome.
If you have any words of encouragement for her please share! She would love to read them and it would bless her I am sure...
Thank You!!

We are of course praying for you..
Knowing God's hand of mercy will be on you..Be brave and trust Him..
Just remember that your Dad was only 8 when he had his appendix out, then your uncles' had surgeries before that age, God truly kept them safe. So, I know that God will keep you in His care and uphold you in His righteous right hand..
You'll be in and out of the hospital very fast. Take it from an old hand at this.....
We love you kiddo,

Sweet, sweet Kayla,
I know you will go through this glorifying the Lord. Your peace will be evident to those around you and you will be able to be a witness as you give Him the credit for your calm spirit. A scripture that you might want to cling to is Psalm 56:3-4,
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
I love you so much sweet girl and know the Lord will use this experience to strengthen you and give you the opportunity to encourage others in the future who may be afraid.
Your Nana
Kayla,
I will be praying for you tomorrow and as you recover from your surgery.
Remember that God hears our prayers and is faithful to answer us. He will help you stay brave through the surgery and heal your foot afterwards. Rest well:)
